Description:

Among biological buffers PBS is one of the most commonly used. The buffer is isotonic and non-toxic to cells and has the ability to maintain their osmolarity. Thereby the buffer is suitable for washing procedures in cell cultures and for immunoassays such as ELISA and immuno-histochemical procedures. It is often used for sample dilution in molecular biology and as protein diluent in Western blotting. Furthermore, the buffer can function as an equilibrator for gel filter columns. Biobench Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) Tablets are designed to provide a cleaner, simple, faster, no-mess environment and more convenience buffer preparation. Each tablet contains a pre-determined amount of NaCl, KCl, Na2HPO4 and KH2PO4 powder when dissolved in 100mL water yields 0.01M phosphate buffer, 0.0027M KCl, and 0.137M NaCl, pH 7.4 at 25°C.
